'Mekanikal' is the first Soul Mekanik release on their resurrected label and delivers an acid house workout that cements them as veterans of the genre. 'Bozlem' is a synth tinged star track layered with dreamy cosmic pads and a deep house inspired backdrop. Marked by cries of "acid music" 'A P M V' is a pure retro warehouse style production, embellished with spaced out vocals and pop melodies.

Rising up the thermometer, 'The Heat' illustrates their cosmic roots in an epic masterpiece reminiscent of The Beloved or The Orb. Featuring Liianne on vocals and the sound of Clover Ray on 'A P M V' as well as '1-2 Who Are You' which closes this fine package with a quirky electro-infused dancefloor weapon.

The Rowdent E.P weaves its way through the dark streets that make up 'Rushin Roulette', a sinister dub heavy wonder ride, through to the retro stabwonk of 'Get a bet on', and finally melting into the blurred edges of the ethnic workout aptly named 'Um bongo'.

This single contains two tracks from the 81 deluxe album that everyone is raving about. Freeform Five create a remix of a previously unreleased Soul Mekanik track 'Don't'. The original track was created around the time of 'Never Touch That Switch' but never made the cut for 81. A super dirty 'live' workout with heavy funk titillates drives you before knocking you on your ass straight into a roaring bath of analogue fuss.

Then, following on from their remix of Sound 5's - The Hacienda Must Be Re:)Built...'Me' gets his/her hands on High on Hope Street and creates a Rubber dub rework that takes you off on a slightly more menacing cosmic journey around the solar system with an afro percussive underbelly and streamline milkway retro synth melodies.

Marvellous.

This house classic was originally released by Sound 5 on their now-revered album "No Illicit Dancing" on Gut Records in 2000, but it refuses to die and has regularly turned up with unofficial remixes which is what inspired this re-release.

First up is the 'Cosmic ME mix', a slow funk workout with cosmic extensions leaves you horizontal and poolside. Next Tim Davison & Nicko Izzo deliver a modern upbeat affair, and to round it off are the re-stylings by Kristoph in his 'Main Room' and 'Dark Room Dub' versions. Between them they deliver - full of sleazy tech house for dark rooms, big rooms, outside rooms and summer superclub terraces. Ace!

You often hear the word 'Legend' bandied around the hallowed halls of the musical world, but this word barely touches the status of the man behind this record. He is the quintessential acid house Legend, Danny Spencer.

In celebration of this fact, Danny has decided to re-release his first ever recording "Ride the Rhythm" as the first release on his new label Wonk, founded with everlasting partner in crime, Kelvin Andrews. Originally recorded 21 years ago and released on Club Records (well, make that 22, but who celebrates that anniversary?...and we're a bit late, but that's acid house for you!) this track was one of the UK's very first answers to the sound emerging from Chicago in the mid-Eighties and is rightly revered.

To balance up this monumental re-release we looked hard and long to find a person who could take on the mantle of remixing this unique track. And where better to look than the place where it all started? Derrick Carter, a true legend in his own right, gives you everything you want and more with a jackfest, fidget workout in his own unique style.

WONK420 - ACID HOUSE SMILEY GRINDER

Acid House Smiley engraved limited edition 2.5" 4-part herb grinder.

The grinder is made up of 1) a top section with teeth on the underside 2) a section of lower teeth 3) screen and a 4) compartment to catch the finer particles that fall through the screen. Herbs are placed in between the teeth, and then the top and bottom are placed together and twisted. The twisting motion moves the teeth together and the herb gets caught and broken down into smaller particles. The size of the particles is determined by how much time was spent grinding. The longer the herb has been ground, the smaller the particles will be.
