rAdiO wOnK is 1! Celebrating 12 months of a weekly show, playing live every Thursday from a studio in the heart of Soul Mekanik’s mothertown, Burslem, Stoke on Trent.

Kelvin and Danny have become very fond of 6 Towns Radio, a radio station at the heart of their own community. They have been working alongside the team there to develop the station into 2012. With  fm aspirations, the station has a good number of listeners and local support and presence is doing well.

rAdiO wOnK every Thursday dishes out a fantastic mix of quality house music, uninterrupted commercial free and full of fun!

In the studio every week, the lads invite groups of stalwart followers from the wOnK parties to join them live and inevitably the studio has it’s own party going on! Sometimes there’s cake, dancing and even juggling as the live mix is passed seamlessly between the two.

With international listeners from places as far as America, South America, Japan, Abu Dabi and Spain and nationally from across the country, with known wOnKers in Manchester, Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Derby, Norfolk, Scotland, Ireland and almost definitely other places that we don’t know about!

So far, between them, Danny and Kelvin haven’t missed a show! With either one covering for the other (Danny covering for the jet setting non-conformist good will astronaut Kelvin and vice versa for him covering for the happiest go luckiest smiliest non-conformist Danny), and when they’re both out of town, as they were whilst working in LA in 2011, they broadcast from their laptops live from Beverly Hills.

Basically, nothing will stop them from sharing their vibe with the world.  RadiO wOnK is 1 and this is just the beginning of a very exciting journey!!

Log on every Thursday from 9pm until midnight (UK time) at www.6towns.co.uk

Soul Mekanik’s New Years Eve wOnK pArty saw out 2011 and welcomed 2012 with an epic bang!

At a time of conscious evolution, transformation and change, sUPeRwOnK saw an array of costumed characters make their way from up and down the country  to wOnK’s underground HQ, Ashiana in Stafford, for their 12th spectacular themed House night.

wOnK HQ pArty deSiGns by EyEronik EyEkonik

It is safe to say that at our Stafford venue, we really have been growing something very special. Dixon Pickles delivered an irresistible mix full of depth and enticing beats which warmed the dance floor ready to explode to the exquisitely mixed rhythms of Danny and Kelv. The Soul Mekanik brothers then played to a rapturous audience until 5am, celebrating life, love and the beginning of 2012 in true wOnKy style.

The year ahead

As we catapult into the future of conscious evolution, Soul Mekanik are at the helm gearing up for an exciting year ahead. Full of pArties, festivals and new venues at which to meet like minded maverick music loving souls.

With the planning of the next HQ pArty ‘LoVe 2 wOnK’ well under way, we KnOw that Saturday 3rd March is going to be a wOnK pArty of cosmic proportions.  A whole team of creatives has already begun creating the decor and props and surprises that heighten the wOnK pArty experience.  Our 2nd LoVe themed pArty will show us and everyone who comes just how much we LoVe.

On top of that, if it wasn’t enough, we have a new pLaNeT wOnK (wOnK’s satellite parties) venue to add to our circuit and our first event there at the end of January was a great success. A brilliant intimate venue at The Basement, Marsh Street, Hanley is a definite for more parties in the future.

There are a number of dates that we have confirmed throughout the year and others that are still being arranged, so please do check out the DJ dates page for further information to ensure you don’t miss out on the fantastic vibe that Soul Mekanik and team are emitting right now!

New Album release in 2012

The lads have been ultra creative in the studio in between parties and as well as some exciting remixes have created some fantastic new Soul Mekanik tracks that they are happily working on right now. There will be an EP release soon and expect a new album in the Autumn.

What a pArty!!! The attention to detail on this one was second to none. Everyone who came made a spectacular effort with costume and enthusiasm. With over 200 people giving it their all at one time or another on the dancefloor through the night, this simply was a party to remember. Stalwart wOnKers who have [...]

Sure is Pure – the way we were

August 12, 2011

We’ve got @NathanJay to thank for this old interview which he sent us yesterday. We thought you might like it. Click the image to expand it for easier reading. It’s from an old edition of Mixmag, sometime in 1993, which you’ll see from the Soul Mekanik Discography was a few years after we’d adopted the [...]

House Music is back in fashion

January 26, 2011

About time too! We’ve been waiting a while! House music as in the stuff with the original, simple ethic of classic drum machines, sing-able basslines and heartfelt vocals. For instant proof of this, remind yourself of one of 2010′s BIGGEST. There’s even PIANOS!  (without any trendy guilt of enjoying ourselves too much!). Chicago style acid tracks [...]

Creative Use – the album

You may have heard that we’ve had this in the works. Our most helpful friends in the North, All Ears distribution, are helping us get a rather lovely DigiPak CD (designed by himself at Eyeronik Eyekonik) of some of the highlights of the Creative Use series. Most of the original vinyl versions of these sought [...]

Our Way

January 20, 2011

As it’s my first post in person, I’m setting out my stall. This is the collective conscience of us 2 brothers. A stream of ill advised rantings about why MP3s are only useful for low level reference, what music we’re feeling new and old, and why Kenny Dalglish, Bruce Lee & Raymond Scott (amongst others) [...]
